thanks paul!

Happy to be one of the winners of Dazed & Confused Magazine / Foam Amsterdam's What's Next competition!

Curated by Dazed co-founder and editor in chief Jefferson Hack, my work will be shown at Foam Fotografiemuseum Amsterdam in The Future of the Photography Museum until December 7th.

From the press release.. "This year Foam celebrates its tenth anniversary. For this reason Foam has created a project exploring the future of photography, entitled What’s Next?. This question has been addressed throughout Foam’s anniversary year in different ways and in different locations. What is the future of photography?

The year concludes with the exhibition The Future of the Photography Museum. Foam has invited four different guest curators from the inter- national cultural field to each realize their own proposal on the future of a photography exhibition. Based on their specific knowledge, they look at which exhibition models are relevant now and how they might be translated into a specific presentation."

Chain Letter
Various locations

Opening: July 16, 2011
Golden Parachutes
Kreuzbergstr 42E
Berlin, Germany

"Chain Letter” is an exhibition that simultaneously takes place in 10 different cities around the world. Similar to a chain letter, 10 curators/artists have been invited to participate. Those 10 then invite 10 artists that they admire. Those 10 invite 10 more and so on. This cycle continues for 30 days.

The result is an exponentially massive, artist-curated group show based entirely on admiration.

David Horvitz started the Berlin chain and invited me as one of his 10 admired artists in his thread of the exhibition. He will be showing the artwork collected from his grouping at Arles (Les Rencontres d’Arles - where David is nominated for the Discovery Award), Paris, Stuttgart, and Berlin during the month of July.

The 10 artists whom I admire reside in Vancouver, Victoria, Brooklyn, Paris, Scranton and Baltimore. Here is a listing of the artists who are participating, from the chain David started. From his last update, he has received over 300 envelopes of artwork in the mail - all from people connected by admiration.

Chain Letter was created by Emily Mast.

"The photographs included in this exhibition beautifully capture the multifaceted, oſten subtle, effects of America’s slippage. Printed on rough newsprint versus traditional photograph paper, the medium both complements and assumes the images’ fatalistic subject matter while, through its unstable composition, also leading to the destruction of the photograph itself. This gradual, all-too-human, disintegration presents a precarious contrast to the long-held ideal of an immortal fine art that I believe obdurately reflects America’s present, declining, situation." - Delaney Allen

Hang in There
June 17 - July 2, 2011

Curated by Jason Lazarus

The Co-Prosperity Sphere
3219-21 South Morgan Street
Chicago, Illinois

Hang In There is an exhibition asking artists to make motivational artworks. Cultural producers often face difficult roads to develop a sustainable practice. This exhibition is an opportunity for artists to provide an alternative to the commodified and saturated market for motivation, transcending the usual glut of advice, adages, and worksheets to something more singular, incisive, heartfelt, and critically-minded.
